About the Hungarian Grand Prix
The first Hungarian Grand Prix was held on June 21, 1936 at a park in Budapest. During that first race in Hungary, three of the largest car producers at the time: Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, and Auto Union brought three cars each to the event which attracted a large crowd. Unfortunately the event would not be held again for another 50 years due to World War II and other political issues. The Hungarian Grand Prix returned in 1986 and was the first ever Formula One event to take place behind the Iron Curtain of a divided Europe. The race takes place at the Hungaroring near Budapest.
