Paolo Conte (born 6 January 1937, Piedmont, Italy) is a singer, pianist and composer. Paolo Conte played the vibraphone in local and touring bands before writing songs with his brother Giorgio, eventually writing songs on his own. He was famous in the late 1960s to early 1970s as the songwriter of hit songs performed by Adriano Celentano [including “Azzuro” (1968)] and Patty Pravo. He released his self-titled debut album in 1974. Later releases ‘Agua Plano’ (1987) and ‘Parole D’Amore Scritte a Macchina’ (1990) enjoyed considerable success across Europe.
